Project Management
Project Management
Closing:
The primary deliverable of most research projects is dissemination of
the knowledge gathered during the project’s timeframe. Often the
results of a project are initially conveyed via oral presentations at professional meetings and/or university colloquia. The ultimate goal, however, is to publish the results in a respected, peer-reviewed, professional journal.
When I manage scientific projects, it is my job to see that the results are published and to draft a closing report for submission to the funding agency (usually NASA). Leading an international team of scientists to consensus on the main interpretations and implications of a body of work often requires mediation and negotiation skills, as well.
